RAD Recumbent Trikes
Recumbent trikes are a wonderful tool for getting exercise, getting outdoors, leaving the car parked or even getting off the beaten path. Trikes for adults and kids offer much greater stability than a two-wheeled bike, and with modern technology, are more fun, faster, and safer than ever before.
Recumbent tricycles are ideal adaptive bikes and can be customized to meet a variety of special needs. Many of the models listed below can also be fitted with a Shimano STEPS e-motor, which is a great assist for hill climbing and long-distance riding.
There are two basic types of recumbent trikes: delta and tadpole. Delta recumbent trikes have one wheel in the front, used to steer, and pedaling drives one or both rear wheels. Delta recumbents tend to have higher seating positions, making it easier to mount/dismount. HASE's delta recumbents can also be linked together to form a paired tandem, allowing two people of different abilities to ride together. Tadpole recumbent trikes have two wheels in front, used to steer, and pedaling drives the rear wheel. Tadpole recumbents are generally lower to the ground and offer a sportier ride.

How Do I Choose a Recumbent Trike?
About Recumbent TrikesWhen you ride a recumbent bike, you’re not sitting on a small saddle seat, hunched over your handlebars. You ride in a semi-reclined position, with your legs in front of you. As a result, your body’s weight is distributed over a wider area. It’s really comfortable and reduces bodily wear-and-tear and fatigue compared to a conventional bicycle.

Tadpole vs. Delta Trikes: Which is Right for Me?There is no clear “best” overall design when considering tadpole vs. delta recumbent trikes, so it comes down to your needs, abilities and intended use. Both designs offer a high-degree of customization and features, whether you’re looking for cargo carrying ability, increased mobility or just plain old fun.
