The RAD story: 25+ years and going strong
For over 20 years, RAD-Innovations has helped people move with freedom, confidence, and joy. Since 1999, we’ve worked with individuals of all abilities to design, produce, and adapt cycles, trikes, and mobility solutions—from recreational riding to competitive Frame Running.

“RAD” reflects our engineering mindset, research and development, the German word Rad (wheel), and our deep roots in cycling innovation. As North America’s leading adaptive sports and inclusive cycling specialist, we guide each rider from concept to ride, creating custom solutions tailored to their needs. By designing products like the RAD RaceRunner and Uni-Roller in-house, we combine manufacturing expertise with real-world feedback to deliver rides built for performance, comfort, and empowerment.

The HISTORY OF RAD

1999–2000 — We began working in adaptive and inclusive cycling solutions, importing, modifying, and developing bikes and mobility devices for all riders of all abilities.

2001 — The RAD Innovations brand is founded.
Early product lines include:
  • Adaptive trikes
  • E-assist mobility bikes
  • Folding bikes

2002–2003 — International Expansion, RAD begins distributing mobility and adaptive products throughout:
  • The United States
  • Europe
  • Taiwan and surrounding markets

2004 — The domain RAD-innovations.com is registered and launched, establishing RAD’s digital presence.

2005–2006 — Major Trade-Show PresenceRAD Innovations appears at industry events including:
  • InterBike (USA)
  • EuroBike (EU)
  • Taipei International Cycle Show (Taiwan)

2007 — RAD Innovations formalizes operations as an Oregon LLC.

2008–2011 — Product Line Expansion, RAD continues distributing and building:
  • E-assist trikes
  • Sport mobility trikes
  • Adaptive and inclusive designs
  • Birdy bikes
  • Mobility scooters

2012 — RAD Innovations LLC registers operations in Vermont, establishing a long-term base for engineering, assembly, and customer support.

2013–2017 — RAD continues to develops and expand on product lines and distribution:
  • FrameRunner running bikes
  • Custom adaptive modifications
  • Multi-position mobility trikes
  • Integrated e-assist systems using BionX technologies

2018–2022 — Rad grows with National & International Partnerships:
  • Paralympic and adaptive sports athletes
  • Program development
  • Clinics and therapists
  • Nonprofits and grant providers
  • Bike fitting specialists across the U.S.
