About Recumbent Trikes
Recumbent? What does that mean?
When you ride a recumbent bike, you’re not sitting on a small saddle seat, hunched over your handlebars. You ride in a semi-reclined position, with your legs in front of you. As a result, your body’s weight is distributed over a wider area. It’s really comfortable and reduces bodily wear-and-tear and fatigue compared to a conventional bicycle.
Trike? Like Tricycle?
Yes! Three wheels on a recumbent cycle means lots of stability and less worry about balance! There’s no need to dismount or place a foot down on the ground when you slow down or stop on a recumbent trike. One of the pleasures of riding a recumbent trike is that you have a comfortable seat to rest, no matter where you go!
The BerkelBike Pro is a unique combination hand and recumbent cycle that offers a variety of benefits to individuals with limited mobility due to spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, paralysis, amputations, MS, and neuromuscular diseases. It was developed in cooperation with physicians, therapists and researchers from rehabilitation centers in the Netherlands, and is used in physiotherapy programs that work to help patients regain strength and motion in impaired legs.
“You can just tell it was designed by people who love bikes.”
- Maria Jeanne Dompierre, EVOlution rider & recumbent bike blogger

RAD-Innovations to offer support for riders at the 12th Annual Kelly Brush Ride
We are delighted to announce that RAD-Innovations will be supporting handcyclists and other adaptive bike riders at the 12th Annual Kelly Brush Ride in Middlebury, Vermont on September 9, 2017. The event is attended by hundreds of cyclists and dozens of handcyclists every year and promises to be a great day!
RAD-Innovations and Hase Bikes USA will be working with the TOUR DE FARMS tour this year.
At Rad-Innovations, we work hard to provide mobility solutions that allow individuals with special needs to get out and enjoy all that life has to offer. We’re excited to offer the Uni-Roller (also known as the X-Jogger), an all-terrain special needs push chair/stroller for children and adults with physical disabilities.
Push chairs have a number of mobility advantages that bulkier wheelchairs don’t - including lighter weight, compact folding design, and better stability on uneven terrain.
The Uni-Roller is one of the most compact and lightest weight special needs push chairs on the market. It’s designed to stand alone as a comfortable push chair with a fabric sling seat, or to integrate with positional seating systems such as Tumble Forms, SnugSeat/R82, Special Tomato, Thomashilfen, and others. The Uni-Roller has been offered in Europe since 2002 and has passed EN standards and CE certification.
The Uni-Roller folds up quickly for easy travel and storage. The large wheels and performance tires allow you to travel smoothly on most surfaces, and offer one and two front wheel configurations for optimal indoor and outdoor performance.
What is an Adaptive Bike?
Cycling is an incredibly popular way to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise, but not everyone can easily ride a traditional bicycle. That’s where adaptive bikes come to the rescue!
What is an adaptive bike?
Simply put, adaptive cycles are bikes that are modified to fit the needs of an individual rider. We all have different abilities and challenges, and there are a wide variety of ways that a bicycle or tricycle can be modified to make cycling possible (and fun!) for anyone. At RAD-Innovations, we specialize in matching you with an adaptive bike that will make cycling enjoyable and safe for you for years to come.
